Order Insights

The Order Insights dashboard provides powerful analytics to help you understand your store's performance and make data-driven decisions. Using Order Insights enables you to answer questions such as:

  • What was the total number of orders in a given time period?
  • What was the total revenue generated?
  • How much discount was applied?
  • What are the trends in order volume and revenue over time?

This is important because it helps you track your business performance, identify trends, and optimize your operations.

Accessing Order Insights

  1. Go to Orders > Insights in Commerce Manager.
  2. The Order Insights dashboard displays with default filters applied.

Filtering Data

You can filter the data displayed in the dashboard using the following options:

Order Date Range

  1. Click the Order date range dropdown.
  2. Select a predefined range or choose custom start and end dates.
  3. The dashboard compares the selected period with the previous period of equal length.

Currency

  1. If your store uses multiple currencies, click the Currency dropdown.
  2. Select the currency you want to analyze (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP).

Additional Filters

Click + Add Filter to add more filtering criteria to narrow down your data analysis.

  • Filter by Product – metrics reflect only orders that contain the selected product:
    • Revenue: Sum of order totals for those orders (in the selected currency).
    • Discounts: Sum of all discounts applied to those orders.
    • Orders: Count of orders that include the product.
  • Filter by Promotion – metrics reflect only orders that used the selected promotion:
    • Revenue: Sum of order totals for those orders (in the selected currency).
    • Discounts: Sum of all discounts applied to those orders.
    • Orders: Count of orders that used the promotion.

Understanding the Metrics

The dashboard displays three key performance indicators:

Total Orders

Shows the total number of orders placed during the selected time period, with a percentage comparison to the previous period.

  • Green percentage (↑): Indicates an increase compared to the previous period
  • Red percentage (↓): Indicates a decrease compared to the previous period

Total Revenue

Displays the total revenue generated during the selected time period, with a percentage comparison to the previous period.

Total Discounts

Shows the total value of discounts applied to orders during the selected time period, with a percentage comparison to the previous period.

Trend Charts

The dashboard includes two interactive trend charts:

Total Orders Trend

Visualizes the number of orders over time. You can toggle between different time intervals using the dropdown (Hourly, Daily, Weekly).

  • Solid line: Current period data
  • Dotted line: Previous period comparison

Total Order Value Trend

Visualizes the revenue generated over time. You can toggle between different time intervals using the dropdown (Hourly, Daily, Weekly).

  • Solid line: Current period data
  • Dotted line: Previous period comparison

Tips for Using Order Insights

  • Hover over any point on the charts to see detailed information for that specific time point.
  • Use date range comparisons to identify growth trends or areas needing attention.
  • Monitor the discount percentage to ensure promotional strategies are sustainable.
  • Compare current performance against previous periods to measure the impact of marketing campaigns or seasonal changes.
